Lancia 2000 Coupe
Anyone who thinks that Lancia begins and ends with the Integrale are wrong. They have a long and storied past. They were campaigning and winning in Rallies before Henri Toivenon could even drive.
I cannot understand Lancia as a car company. Now that is. They went wild and created the Stratos. Then they raced it. They participated in Formula 1 and Group 6 at various points. Though they've never had the same emotional attachment generally afforded to them, like Alfa for instance, they still came out with the Delta. And this is what's most perplexing.
If you look at their current range, Ypsilon, (new) Delta, Phedra (awful names), you'd think they've lost the plot. Where's the drama? If you don't know your history, then you're stuck in the present with very little ability to shape your future. Unless, Lancia start looking deep into what they were good at, what fans of the marque expect of them, appreciating their history more, and start offering cars that people really desire.....well, what's the point?
Noone buys an Italian car to look boring and unimaginative.
