Audi S2

Hola.....

Had to see a man about a dog today. So jumped in the car and routed through Central London. Anyway, I'm coming out of a junction and I had judged it that with the room in front of the car in front of me, and with the lack of traffic on my right, I could make the turn with him (the car in front).

There was a yellow box in the middle, but there was enough room/time to clear it.

So I proceed. Then the chap in front just starts to slow down until he stops with a good ten yards in front of him to the next car. Then the lights changed. So I'm stranded on the yellow box with traffic building up to my right.

[HONK HONK HONK]

Out he jumps, arms outstretched.

"WOSHYOURPROBLEMBRUV! HEY HEY?!?"

Red rag to a bull. I get out too.

'Move your car forwaaaarrrrddddd!'

Then follows the usual kissing teeth, spitting on the ground near my feet, 'blaaadclarrrrtttt....'

He jumps back in his car and as he does so, I notice something had fallen out of his pocket as he screeched through the changing lights. I saw it, and so did two other drivers waiting for the situation to pass.

Yep. A nice shiny iPhone. Hehehe.....

Yes. I got back in my car. And drove over it. Ever so slowly..........

I think he noticed soon afterwards as the rear end of his car jacked up violently about fifty yards down the road.

A dish best served cold........

Anyway, the chap was an idiot, but he was driving an Audi Coupe, the B3/Typ version. And a variation on this car, a sort of bridge to the full B4 platform, was the later S2. With a turbocharged 20 valve 2.2 litre I5, and the permanent 4WD, it was a rapid car. Rev it hard and 0-60 comes in 5.7 seconds. Not the landmark car that the ur-Quattro was, nor as genre defining as the later RS2, it's sort of forgotten in comparison.
