I believe only 500 made, of which 167 in RHD. It always amazes me how Alpina now take a great BMW (in general), often make it a tad quicker, find nicer alloys, smooth out the ride and then make it drink less juice. It's like taking some nice drinks to a party, then the Host grabs them, shoves them in a bowl, throws in some fruit and offers up Punch! And everyone thanks the Host for a great drink........

Prior to the launch in 2002 of the B3S (here), Alpina's first take on BMW's E46 was the B3 3.3.

Most modern cars are incredibly well put together. Clean, functional, capable machines. Nothing more. Nothing less. They provoke no more emotion except than that of admiration. The same way you admire a Shire horse when it tackles all the work you give it. There is no flair.

1/200. I had seen this very car a few evenings previously, walking back from a club with my mate. Had a nice argument with the local S016 officers. No sooner had I stopped to peruse the car and leant in to have a nice look, did two red Zafiras pull up.

So I'm down at the driving range, me and my mate trying to outdo each other in the long yards stakes. "Now watch this drive...."

The standard 750iL is no slouch. But on a dragstrip with this it would be like a cagefight between Dustin Diamond and 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin.

There was the earlier E21 based Alpina B6 2.8, based on E21, and then the E30-based Alpina B6 2.8. This, however, is seemingly a long lost car.

Mayfair. 1 of 715. It's the BMW V8 4.4 as found in the E60, E63 and the early E65/6/7, but supercharged. Quite an interesting strategy, I gather, to go to eight cylinders instead of 10 or 12.
